Tropical Woods

Amtico Tigerwood W757

Two trends collide to create the Amtico Tropical Wood collection: our attraction to pattern as a rejection of the 90’s white-box interior, and our desire to respect and sustain the wonders of nature.

Ironically, the moment we’re drawn back to using beautiful, highly-figured woods is also the moment that our awareness grows about exploiting the rainforest, where many of these are to be found.

Amtico’s design team were inspired by some rare and amazing species for Amtico Tropical Woods, capturing the essence of each one as closely as possible.

The four designs allow everyone to indulge a taste for the exotic without worry and create interiors of stunning richness and consistency.

The wood more properly known as Goncalo alves is now under threat in the wild.

Tigerwood (to give it its more common name) has dramatically contrasting golden patterning and an exotic allure that makes it the perfect partner for the jewel tones, metals and silks of our modern take on eastern style.

Bamboo has become a fashionable choice for floors in “zen-trend” spaces, despite being a member of the grass family rather than a true wood thus arguably too soft for busy environments.

Amtico Caramel Bamboo retains the lovely linear grain but has a more sophisticated butterscotch tone that will create a calm, contemporary space.

The rich wood of Brazilian Rosewood, with its deep red, amber and black tones, is a treasure of the natural world, but so endangered that export from the wild is now banned.

Amtico Brazilian Rosewood perfectly captures the chocolatey good looks of the original, and providing the perfect partner for today’s luxury materials and darker schemes.

Found mostly in the mangroves of south-east Asia, durable Merbau was discovered as a flooring choice by China and the west. Amtico Merbau’s warm red tones and unique flecked grain will attract those looking for an exotic finish but with ease and adaptability to complement different kinds of interiors styles.
